Responding to the accusation, the basketball player stresses that his post isn’t about the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ beauty whom he still respects ‘deeply.’

Lamar Odom just wanted to express his love for his new girlfriend Sabrina Parr publicly, only to get negative comments from his followers. Over the weekend, the basketball player shared an appreciative post about the personal trainer, but many thought that he took a shot at Khloe Kardashian and compared her to Sabrina.

In the post, Lamar attached a picture of Sabrina working out along with a quote from Malcolm X in the caption. “It’s just like when you’ve got some coffee that’s too black, which means it’s too strong, what do you do? You integrate it with cream… But if you pour too much cream in it, you won’t even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool, it used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #blackroyalty.

Reading his caption, his followers were convinced that his caption was a shade towards Khloe and that made them upset. “I am REALLY DISAPPOINTED in you Lamar, you go from talking about love and good vibes to throw shade towards the woman who saved your life????” one commented. Someone else urged Lamar to stop “comparing” because the blonde beauty “has her beauty and she [Sabrina] may have hers.” The user added, “I am a black woman but I choose Khloe period.”

The backlash apparently was so severe that Lamar had to speak up and defend himself. Admitting to feeling “a bit disappointed” because people made the wrong assumption about his post, he clarified, “This post isn’t against anyone including my ex wife that I still respect deeply. I am just PRO love. Can I do that without people feeling offended? Why does that make you mad?”

He continued, “Our black women have been held down for centuries ! I am now deciding to send them and my NEW WOMAN a lot of love. My post goes out to the new leading woman in my life, that I’m gonna tell everyday how beautiful she is, from the inside out.”
