Brendan Dassey will not get out of prison, despite a federal judge throwing out his conviction … if prosecutors have their way.
The Wisconsin Attorney General is appealing the decision to overturn the conviction, on grounds authorities violated his rights by interrogating the then 16-year-old without an adult present.
Dassey was convicted of murdering Teresa Halbach, along with his uncle, Steven Avery. The saga was chronicled on “Making a Murderer,” which triggered outrage and almost certainly helped in the appeal.
As of now, Dassey will get out in November, but prosecutors now want a federal appeals court to overturn the lower court’s reversal.
